I don't know anything about it or if it works at all, but you may want to check it out.

Yeah, I like Adhesive as well. And yes I have noticed also that if you save and continue editing, it doesn't keep the checkbox, so you just make sure you check it right before you click publish.
I do enjoy the customization of it as well. :-D

I am using the sticky post where you have to edit the database. Honestly I didn't find it that hard to do, and it has worked great for me. Although Icyshard's comment has me wishing for a way to take the date off the post you sticky to the top. But other than that wish, no complaints at all.

I'm not sure. I tried a few of them and felt that Adhesive gave me the most amount of features that I felt a "sticky" post should have--ie, you can format it differently, it temporarily removes the date (so it's less confusing to see a post w/an older date above other later dates), doesn't require hacking, etc.). My index page is pretty hacked, but that's about it. Maybe you just made too many key core changes--you could always ask the author to see what he can do. I found a bug in an earlier version and he was quick to respond.

Or you could always be super scripty and make the ultimate sticky plugin! :)
