MT-Blacklist fix and Bayesian filter for MT
After installing the mt-blacklist plugin, I did notice a delay in commenting. (I thought it might just be me - since we’ve been having trouble with our servers anyway) - but it turns out it’s not just me. There is a hack on Wizbang that solves this problem [via Jennifer's ETC blog]
While also browsing through ETC - Jennifer’s post about James Seng’s Bayesian Spam filter reminded me to bring this up into an actual post (it’s actually linked in the comments in the Anti-Comment Spam post, and I kept forgetting to highlight it)

The next version of MT-Blacklist addresses the comment and rebuild slowdown. After much discussion the model will more closely resemble an anti-virus solution, with active blocking (which you get now even if you use the hack) and the ability to clean old comments of banned URL’s.
In the next version everything on your blacklist is blocked, but if a new spam that is not blacklisted comes in you have the option to add it to the list, delete it (and rebuild), plus find and delete all existing comments containing the same banned URL or from the same IP address.

User of MT-Blacklist may be interested in a new collaboration space for sharing information about spam sources. The Blog Spam Database lists known spam domains, phrases, and IP addresses - and includes text-file output for use with MT-Blacklist. The Blog Spam Database can be found at http://www.markcarey.com/spamdb/
