WROX Press Goodbye…

Posted by: dave In: Suggested reading

Unfortunately it looks like WROX press (they make those big red books with the ugly authors on the cover) is going out of business

Story Here
In my opinion they have put out some excellent books, esp. their "Professional" series. I use the Professional PHP 4 often. There will either be a good sale on WROX books at your local bookstore, or they will just dissapear…

If you own any of their books and you haven't downloaded the sample code from their site yet, I'd suggest doing that while it's still up. They don't typically package any of their books with a CD so you have to download all samples.

It's a shame because I own about three feet worth of Wrox shelf space. Good stuff, especially the JSP, Server Side JAVA and PHP stuff.

*sigh* I was suppose to do a book review for them too… now I'm not even sure they'll ship the new books. =\

WOW! That's really surprising. They were such a prominent publisher. I don't think I can walk past a developers desk without seeing at least ONE book from them. I wonder what happened!

Well crap — three weeks after I buy my first book from them, and they collapse like a two-dollar card table. Do I know how to clear a room or what …

I hope they at least keep the code for the Javascript book on their site for a little while longer …
