Wander lust pinging

Posted by: Jennifer In: How to's

Kristine posted here before about wander lust – And now with MT 2.5 you can ping them. She posted the instructions here.

If you already have an account with Wander lust, and already have this in between your MT entries tag:

<!–syndicate <$MTEntryTitle$>|<$MTEntryExcerpt$> /syndicate–>

Then go to Blog Config (in MT) – go to preferences – and under "Publicity / Remote Interfaces / TrackBack" there'll be a field to enter additional pings("Others: (separate URLs with a carriage return)"). Add this:

http://wander-lust.com/pinger.cgi?your-name@your-domain.com

(where your-name@your-domain.com is the email address you used to sign up with Wander Lust)

OK I have tried to add this code I inserted in correctly but I still can get it to ping wanderlust, here is the error I get:(from my activity log)

Ping 'http://wander-lust.com/pinger.cgi?email@sinegrant.com' failed: HTTP error: 500 read timeout

Perhaps I have not put it correctly into the 'other pings'? Its very frustrating! urghh

I've seen this with mozilla before but it was cured for me by assuring that all of the text in the comment tag was properly encoded.

i've got a strange issue…

after inserting the syndicate code (i put it just before the closing MT entries tag), all mozilla-based browsers i've tried see everything after the syndicate line as a comment. mozilla 1.2 and phoenix both experience this. IE6 renders fine though.

i'm sure it's a mozilla problem, wondering if you might know why it doesn't close the comment at the end of the syndicate line?

thanks!
