I, like some other people who have commented, love having the add a link script on my own server. I signed up for a Blogrolling account, but I don't like it as much as something running from my very own server! So I say keep going! I'd much rather use something I can install and run myself other than relying on other servers.

I'm doing a search on google (which you've probably already done, but I'll do it anyhow ;) )

I'm definitely not proficient in this stuff; I know basic basics, but that's about it! BUT, that being said, I'm a pretty good researcher and maybe I'll find something you haven't seen that will help :)

<a href="http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/justin20000428.php3" target="_blank">Parsing XML with PHP using expat function</a>
<a href="http://techno-weenie.com/articles/xmlclass.shtml" target="_blank">XML parsing with PHP</a>
<a href="http://syndic8.com" target="_blank">Syndicate</a> - the home of thousands of xml feeds, but also has some tutorials

I see that you just send another comment through while I was typing this, so these may be no help now, but since I put them togheter, I'm gonna go ahead and click post :)

Yeah, I agree. Keep developing your version. I much much prefer to have stuff running on my own site, so that I can edit the code as I want at any time and am not depedant on other servers. And the script is totally awesome so far, I would definately use it over Blogrolling any day, so please keep developing it! :)

ok - by popular demand, I'll keep coding this. LOL!

So, while we're on the subject... anyone know anything about parsing XML with PHP? I think if I did it correctly, it'd be faster than what I'm doing with that weblog update thingy...

I've been searching for a good tutorial, and I can't find any good ones that will help me do what I want... =sigh= this is usually where I end up buying a book. (Noooo!!!! Not another php book!!!)

I also have developed my own version - purely for me - so that it runs on *my* server and not anyone elses so i am not relying on a third partys internet to be available. When blogger fell over a week or so ago it was pretty frustrating not to be able to post. Besides, it also gives you good experience in writing code - even more when you have others using the same code they have downloaded from your website to put on theirs. I'll probably take a look at your stuff, see how you have done it and then see how i can convert it into asp and use it on my site (or improve my version!)

Psst, the latest news I heard about blogrolling.com is that they are looking for someone to design the personal version... maybe you could work with them??
I would much rather put something that was created especially for my own site instead of depending on another server.
I see your sample, and its really not THAT slow on this end.. is it slow for you loading or actually searching for updates? Not that it makes a difference I suppose! :) Anyhow, just thought I'd add these comments :)
