Get your HTML page to process like a PHP page
First I should say it is actually *better* if you just use the ".php" extension because otherwise it creates a lot of overhead for your server. But if you insist on doing it this way

Hee! I feel like this entry is just for me - I'm still working on (read: haven't had time to work on but want to) fixing my bloglinks.php file to create a rotating list of blogs - this is just an opportunity for me to say the new design looks great, and you goddesses are the best!

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that you can change any old .html page to .php and it would work just fine. I guess there might be hosts who forbid it, or something?

Oh, I suppose it might be a problem if you have internal links all over your site. But that's what search and replace is for, right?

Row - nope. Actually I'd recommend that people just change their extensions… but some people just wanna be difficult! (CHRISTINE!!!) LOL!! Some people's sites are too far gone down the .html path that changing all the extensions is too painful…

Well, I didn't know any better when I started - I was a PHP and CSS newbie at the same time. The last thing I needed was the headache of changing my file extensions too! Ok, ok, I did it just to torture you. I admit it… I honestly didn't know any better when I started - I assumed my pages had to end in .html. Someday when I have nothing to do (HA!) I'll go change them all to .php like they should be.

So Jenn, can you tell me more 'bout this? (says curious george!!) I *think* that Eric told me that if I was to change my htaccess file so that it thought everything was php even when the extention was html, it makes the servers process everything a little bit more because they assume the files will have some sort of php inside of them. BUT, maybe there's another drawback that I don't know about, and I wanted to feel informed!! (My files are named .php when they are php rather than Miss difficult

Yes - it makes the server work harder… but then again… if you're like me - all my pages are .php so all the pages end up doing the same thing… LOL!
